Sally and Jack Skellington (The Nightmare Before Christmas) dress up tutorial

The Sally and Jack disguise: The Nightmare Before Christmas

We inspired this upon the mythic Tim Burton movie, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and on its female lead character, Sally, to make this makeup tutorial. We bring the best tips and ideas for your Sally costume from The Nightmare Before Christmas and, of course, her crazy love, Jack Skellington. ÂĄThe perfect look for next Halloween!

How to achive the look

The main thing for this Halloween makeup is to create the fake eyes, simulating the ones in the cartoon, very big and with enormous eyebrows, so characteristic of Tim Burton characters.

Follow these steps of the makeup video with Sara G and see just how easier it is than you thought.

  • Step 1: Cover your eyebrows with makeup, seal with translucid powders and finish covering your face.
  • Step 2: Give some strokes of purple and blue shadows to simulate the same tones as our protagonist.
  • Step 3: To create the enormous fake eye, you’ll have to draw a socket eyebrow high and fill it up with blue and purple shadows.

  • Step 4: Paint your real eyelid with water paint, top and bottom.
  • Step 5: Apply in the creases of the eyelid some amazing fake eyelashes and outline with black what would be the fake eye.
  • Step 6: Paint your lips in red and with black paint draw the stitches.

  • Step 7: With blue paint, finish simulating the stitches of the doll.
  • Step 8: Put on the wig included in the disguise and you’re ready for Halloween!

The costume

In Funidelia you can find different versions of the Sally Costume. From the ones faithful to the movie version, with a long, straight dress, to versions with sparkles and sequins to give it a “glamorous” look. You pick the one you like most.

If you want to make your own Sally costume, the trick is to find a dress you already have at home, cut the shape you want with triangular shapes on the skirt and sleeves and buy of use black, purple, blue, yellow and orange pieces of cloth.

If you don’t find the exact drawing, you can, with a marker or pencil, do the circles, lines and stitches yourself.

The accessories

Both the costumes you’ll see for The Nightmare Before Christmas on the Sara G tutorial and the ones shown in the above section include a Sally wig.

But if you want to make your own homemade Sally wig, here you have a super easy trick. Since our protagonist is a ragdoll, her hair is made from wool. So, you can make the wig by cutting strips of wool from a red ball of wool; make dem very long, since we’ll be making Sally’s hairline in the middle of them. To simulate the hairline in the middle, you can sow by hand or with a machine a piece of felt. There are a bunch of Pinterest tutorials like the ones in these images:

The finishing touches

Since it couldn’t be any other way, the finishing touch for Sally is her dear Jack. Disguise yourself as a couple and win with both costumes.

In this case, we show the Jack Skellington costume that Chico Morena wears in the video and other options, like the mask or the spider-shaped bow tie to complete your cosplay.

The “Pumpkin King” wears a black frac and a jacket with white and black stripes, and wears a white skull for a head.

The final look

This is our friends’ final look with their fantastic The Nightmare Before Christmas costumes. Become Jack or Sally and show that a skeleton and a ragdoll are filled with life, and plenty of it!

This is Halloween!
